How it runs

Arrival — check in at reception, then a welcome tea at the jungle spa
Warm foot bath — 15–20 minutes
Aromatherapy massage — 60 slow minutes with frangipani oil
Herbal tea — to close the ritual
Rest — water and time to rest before you leave
Dok champa is the frangipani flower of Laos, and its scent runs through this whole treatment. The dok champa massage ritual begins with a warm foot bath of 15–20 minutes, then a slow 60 minute aromatherapy massage with frangipani oil, and closes with herbal tea. Your therapist asks about pressure, allergies and any health conditions before starting. The ritual takes place in the jungle spa at The Namkhan, by the Khan River and about 15 minutes from town. Come a little early if you like: there is a shower and the rock pool to enjoy before your treatment, and the sauna can be heated for you if you book it 45 minutes ahead. Afterwards, take your time with herbal tea and water before you leave.
